Halcyon means calm, peaceful, and tranquil, drawn from ancient mythology where the kingfisher was believed to charm the winds and seas. Our logo reflects this story and ours, a kingfisher resting in a mid-century styled nest on calm coastal waters, symbolising peaceful days, gentle moments, and the luxury of slowing down.

Born from a deep love of the Yorke Peninsula and all things mid-century
Halcyon Hardwicke Bay is more than a holiday home. Megan and Stephen, partners for nearly 30 years, explored Yorkes together and have been captivated by its rugged coastline and slow coastal rhythm. Over time, this place became part of their story, and Halcyon is their way of inviting you into it.
Lovingly renovated with heart and vision, Halcyon blends authentic mid-century charm with modern comfort. Original mid-century furnishings, artworks, playful colour, and carefully chosen textures evoke memories of summers past, where the priority is being lost in the dunes, or on the beach and making endless adventures.
The house offers panoramic sea views, glowing sunsets over the ocean, and soft sunrise light across neighbouring paddocks. Nature is always close. Birds, bees, and sleepy lizards share the garden, while kangaroos and even baby emus are often spotted nearby.
Step out the front door and you are on the famous Walk the Yorke trail. Take 50 steps and you are on the beach and the reef. Rockpools, snorkelling, and for the confident swimmer, the chance to slip into deeper water and share the bay with eagle rays, and many amazing sea creatures.
Within minutes you can be on one of the world’s best beaches, Flaherty’s Beach, and have access to 3 boat ramps, so bring your boat too!

Thoughtfully designed for families, couples, and friends to feel immediately at ease
The kitchen is fully equipped, including stove top coffee maker, and coffee supply and we do our best keep a well-stocked pantry of basics that you might need and that we like to use.
The bathroom features a shower and vanity, with body wash and hand wash and few other bits and bobs in case you have forgotten something, plus a separate WC, with toilet paper provided.
A laundry with front-loading washing machine and trough makes longer stays easy. Again, basics are provided in the laundry
Linen is included in your nightly rate, and beds will be beautifully made ready for your arrival. Each guest is provided with a bath towel, and there will be a hand towel, bathmat, and tea towels for your stay.
Our beds are a guest favourite, known as some of the most comfortable in Hardwicke Bay. Dressed in buttery soft French flax linen from Australian brands including Kip & Co, Society of Wanderers and Bed Threads, they are breathable, moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic and sustainably made. The King Single beds are layered in organic washed cotton.

Out the front there is a fire pit, it is BYO wood, during fire season only, which is May to October, but this could change depending on the seasons conditions and you should check the CFS website to confirm.
